Duke picked up a nice win over Toledo Wednesday night, 70-45, and it moves the Blue Devils to 7-4 on the season.
Kennedy Brown paced the Blue Devils with 17 points while while freshman Jadyn Donovan racked up her first career double-double with with 12 points and 10 boards.
Duke shot well at 50 percent overall but not so well from three point range at just 2-7.
Toledo hit just 18-58 for 31 percent. Duke dominated the boards, 42-25.
Coach Kara Lawson was pleased. Check out what she said:
“It was a good solid win for us. They’re obviously a good, veteran team. The start of the third was the biggest difference for us. That group that we started in that third quarter was able to put some distance between us and them. I thought their pace, scoring in transition, they really did a good job of it.
“In the second half, when we attacked in transition, scored fast, that was our best offense. I’m really pleased with the performance of a lot of players. I thought, obviously, Kennedy [Brown] played really well and Jadyn [Donovan] played really well. And having that advantage of getting points on the interior, we talked about it with our team. Let’s get to the paint. Let’s drive the paint. Let’s pass it to the paint. Let’s attack and get in there and they executed.”
Duke will take a few days off for the holiday and then meet Coppin State after Christmas on December 28th. That game will be in Cameron also.
