Brotherhood News: Northwestern Gets A Massive Upset And Jayson Tatum Gets Ejected

What a night for Northwestern!

Two Brotherhood notes worth mentioning. First, Chris Collins and Northwestern shocked Purdue Friday night in overtime, 92-88.

The Wildcats forced 17 turnovers and Boo Buie scored 31 points. Northwestern scored 16 in overtime and seven of those were Buie’s too. He was terrific.

Zach Edey had another strong game with 35 points, 14 boards and three blocks.

At 6-1 and with a massive upset, look for Northwestern to be ranked Monday morning. It’s also a good resume win for the tournament.

Meanwhile, Jayson Tatum was ejected in Boston’s win over Philadelphia for arguing a call in the third quarter. Afterwards, he said this: “I was extremely surprised. Y’all saw what happened. Might not know what I said, but whatever I said doesn’t matter at this point. I don’t agree with that. One of the assistant coaches was there with me, [he] doesn’t agree. But it doesn’t really matter. It’s like the ref’s word against ours. When they throw you out, they throw you out, even if I was right.”

Tatum may have been ejected before, but we can’t recall it. He’s fiercely competitive obviously but he’s always been relatively calm on the court. It’s striking to see him get tossed.
