He won’t take over until next spring, but Jon Scheyer has already started building his own team. With commitments from 6-11 Kyle Filipowski and 6-6 Dariq Whitehead, now both 5-star recruits, he’s off to a great start and one of his other main targets is 6-4 Caleb Foster out of Harrisburg, NC, but currently playing at Oak Hill.
He’s getting a lot of attention of course, certainly from ACC teams like UNC, Wake Forest, Virginia, Louisville, and Clemson - and recently cut his list to eight: those schools plus Auburn, Virginia, Stanford, and Charlotte.
That doesn't mean other schools won’t keep trying and just this week, Chris Beard, who took over Texas this spring, offered. The writer of this article thinks that it’ll be tough to get him away from Duke, but Foster is in the Class of 2023 so there’s probably still a long ways to go in this one, and Beard is a formidable competitor.
