Duke Recruiting: Dereck Lively Update

If analysts had any impact Lively would be a strong Duke lean

If we haven’t made it clear before now let’s try one more time: we don’t recommend getting overly excited about any particular recruiting situation. Relatively few people know what’s going on and it’s foolish to get too caught up in it.

And as much as we enjoy the Crystal Ball, you have to take that with a grain of salt too.

But it’s undeniably fun as long as you don’t take it too seriously.

That said, as you probably know Derrick Lively is set to announce on Monday and now Kentucky.com (note: this is subscription site) says that “[t]he perceived momentum, however, is clearly with the Blue Devils on the eve of Lively’s announcement.”

They base that on the Crystal Ball and a couple of Rivals analysts. We wouldn’t take this too seriously except for the traditional BBN chauvinism that assumes everything should go their way and the rest of the world is more or less a waste of time and energy.

In other words, if they’re scared, that could be good for Duke.

But still, save the champagne until after he announces. Everyone could be wrong or he could wake up Monday morning feeling differently than he did Sunday night.
