Former Duke guard and assistant coach Chris Collins, now at Northwestern, has had a tough stretch after an historic run to the NCAA tournament in 2016-17, the first ever for the Wildcats.
Part of it was some unfortunate injuries and as we’ve said, everyone gets a pass for last year, the Covid Season, when Northwestern finished 9-15.
But Collins has kept recruiting through the tough stretch and now he has a really good prize for his efforts: he’s won a commitment from 4-star point guard Rowan Brumbaugh.
Here’s what his high school coach, John Carroll, had to say about his 6-4 star: “Rowan is a great point guard, manager of tempo, and players. His high IQ allows him to see the opportunities in the game that other players miss. He knows what calls to make, who needs touches and wants to make the winning plays for the team.”
He’s a great base going forward and sounds like the kind of player who will draw other kids. Good get for Collins.
