There was a sense that Duke had really made up ground with Mark Mitchell and he confirmed that Saturday when he cut his list to four: Duke, UCLA, Missouri and home state contender Kansas.

A Top Ten target, the 6-8 Mitchell is looking/hoping to commit by December. Here’s what he told Zagsblog.com about Duke:

“The relationship I’ve developed with coach (Jon) Scheyer has been great. We talk a couple times a week. Just the vision he has for me at Duke is something that I think maybe could be special. Just the way they play, Duke has certainly let their guys play. Coach Scheyer isn’t going to vary too far from that. They might be losing a lot of guys next year, so I think I could go in and fill one of their spots.”

Obviously he’s aware of the NIL revolution but says he’d make good money anywhere. That’s surely true but Duke is in a position to help him make not just make NIL income but also to build his brand for later in a way that no other school really can.
