Looks like Jon Scheyer’s first schedule has its first entry: the Blue Devils will go to Portland to take part in the PK85.
That’s named for Nike founder Phil Knight as you may remember from Duke’s last trip there when it was called the PK80 (Knight was 80 at the time).
Here’s the entire field:
- Duke
- UNC
- Villanova
- UConn
- Xavier
- Gonzaga
- Alabama
- Florida
- Michigan State
- Purdue
- West Virginia
- Iowa State
- Oregon
- Oregon State
- Portland
- Portland State
Other than arguably Portland and Portland State, that’s a pretty great field and as you may remember, Portland State gave Duke a tough in 2017 before yielding.
As you may also remember from 2017, the field is split into two brackets so our guess is that Duke and UNC will be on opposite sides. We can’t imagine either school would be thrilled about playing each other that early. By that we mean in November, but with Hubert Davis having one season under his belt and Scheyer just getting started, it’s hard to imagine either guy would be happy about that matchup, usual tensions aside.
No matter how you split this field up though you’re going to see some tough teams. It should be another great event.
