Marvin Bagley’s Sacto Days May Be Just About Over

His relationship with the Kings may be beyond repair

Like anyone in his position, Marvin Bagley understood he was NBA-bound and wasted no time getting there, leaving Duke after his freshman year in 2017, as the #2 pick behind only DeAndre Ayton.

But the NBA isn’t an easy life, even for elite athletes, and Bagley has had a tough time with the Kings.

He’s had a lot of injury problems and has taken a lot of criticism. And of course the Kings are not a well-managed franchise, so things haven't gone well overall.

So it’s not surprising that Bagley liked a tweet saying that “we gotta get @MB3FIVE outta Sac” and also took the Kings out of his online bios.

Bagley addressed the issue on a podcast saying that “[f]irst of all, it’s my Twitter, bro. It’s my Twitter. It has my name on it. I can like whatever I choose and please, and whatever I feel like liking.”

Well he’s right about that. Doesn’t mean it was a smart thing to do, but he’s right.

It’s not the first time a Bagley family member has ripped the Kings: earlier this year, his father tweeted out that he’d like to see his son on a different team. They both may get their wish soon.
