Paulus may have found a sleeper

We’ve been keeping an eye on former Blue Devil Greg Paulus’s progress at Niagara. In his first season, despite having a very, very small team, Niagara finished 12-20.

Last season, the asterisk season, Niagara finished 9-10 which, all things considered, wasn’t bad: he got his team almost back over .500.

He’s building his program though and obviously that means you need solid players. It sounds like he may have gotten in on a good one early in 6-8 Donovan Hill (2022).

A player development coach named Joe Stasyszyn put Paulus on to Hill and here’s the thing: he’s from a pretty athletic family. He has a cousin who was in the NFL, a cousin who played football at St. Francis and another who played basketball at Bucknell.

He’s a bit of a late bloomer but has done very well this summer and is building his reputation. He’s a bigger guy, especially at the MAAC level, who has guard skills.

Paulus’s next challenge may be to hold on to him when bigger schools realize he’s pretty good.
