A lot of times we find that the most useful recruiting insights come from other fan bases and that’s been the case with Kyle Filipowski, or at least it’s very encouraging. The Kentucky sites we’ve looked at generally think that UK has a lot of ground to make up while this Syracuse site thinks that the Orange is fading and Duke is looking good, although it doesn’t rule out UK, UNC or Michigan.
Here’s an excerpt: “Ugh. Kentucky head coach John Calipari is tremendous on the recruiting trail, his teams often do quite well in the Big Dance, and Calipari sends a ton of Wildcats players to the NBA. This is rough news for Orange fans hoping that Filipowski will choose the ‘Cuse...Duke clearly has the most buzz for Filipowski. However, I think it’s hard to discount offers from Michigan, North Carolina and, most recently, Kentucky. These are some of the premier groups in the sport.”
There’s still a ways to go and obviously only Filipowski and his circle (which may include a D-1 coaching staff now) know for sure what’s going to happen or at least where things stand. But he’s really caught fire this summer and is likely to rocket up the rankings. So it’ll be an intense battle regardless of where he ends up.
