Wherever he goes, this guy is going to become a very good player

Duke has offered Jaden Schutt, a 6-5 shooting guard out of Yorkville, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago.

This year’s recruiting cycle is going to be weird because there are always young guys who develop late and Covid meant no one could see them for awhile. There’s a lot of pent-up energy from recruits and from recruiters too.

But as you’ll see in this video, while he’s pegged as a three-star prospect (one site had him listed as Jordan Schutt), he’s more athletic than people probably think. And as we learned Monday, he’s unusually disciplined, including his diet, and focused on making himself the best player he can be.

So maturity wise he’s probably a five-star prospect, if you will, and that will take him farther than a lot of people expect.

He says that he’s studied JJ Redick’s shot and modeled his own on it, and while that’s going to be his calling card, when we watch him here, we see a guy who has a mature game. He scans the court looking for options.

Unless he decides to give basketball up, he really looks like a guy who is going to maximize his talent and who knows how far he can take it? Duke or not, we’ll be keeping an eye on this guy. He’s impressive.
