Every fan has their favorite games. We could list a bunch off the top starting with some UNC games, some Maryland game and of course some NCAA Tournament games.
In 2010, Duke got a tournament rematch with West Virginia. The Mountaineers had pushed Duke around in the 2008 tournament as Joe Alexander had his way and Joe Mazzula mocked the Blue Devils.
Different story in 2010: Duke was far more physical as Mazzulla found out in the first 70 seconds of the game.
In general, Duke was not willing to be bullied and in fact really took it to the Mountaineers. It was one of the more satisfying Duke wins in the tournament that we can remember as Duke hit 13-25 on threes and generally dominated West Virginia.
A lot was made about Da’Sean Butler’s unfortunate knee injury but he played 28 minutes and shot 2-8 from the floor so that wasn’t it.
In this game, future Duke coach Jon Scheyer had 23 points on 7-13 from the floor, six assists and zero turnovers.
