A Couple Of ACC Notes

An extension and a late return

A couple of ACC notes to pass on.

Wisely, Virginia Tech has extended Mike Young, giving him three more years. Think about this: Buzz Williams was the best coach they had ever had and he left and things didn’t look too promising. Then they got Mike Young to come home (he grew up in the area) and if anything, he’s been better. Certainly he’s justified all the people who praised his immense basketball IQ.

Not bad for a guy who played up the road a bit for Emory and Henry which is a small time school now athletically but was nothing when he was there.

And good news for Miami as Kameron McGusty has put his NBA dreams on hold and will return to the ‘Canes for another season. It’s a smart decision on his part since he didn’t make a huge impression.

No word yet on his Miami teammate Isaiah Wong.
