Austin Rivers will always be an iconic part of Duke history for this. His amazing game winning shot against UNC is just behind Christian Laettner’s epic 1992 shot against Kentucky as one of Duke’s all-time legendary buzzer beaters.
His NBA career hasn’t gone as smoothly but he has become an absolute professional, willing to give his team whatever is asked. He’s become a much better defender and role player than he ever was at Duke.
That didn’t stop things from going sideways with the New York Knicks and he left the Big Apple recently unhappy and hoping for a bit of payback.
He got it Wednesday night.
Rivers lit up New York for 25 points, including six threes. He apparently told his teammates that he was going after New York for payback and he did it. So score one for Rivers and let’s hope he can bottle it.
