Not too long ago we talked about how Grayson Allen’s tripping reputation had followed him into the NBA but somehow former Wake Forest Demon Deacon Chris Paul’s continued history of dirty play hasn’t stuck to him at all.
If you google Chris Paul and dirty you’ll find lots of stuff, like this list of nasty plays. It’s pretty impressive, but somehow, Paul ends up as an elder statesman and a celebrated talent - and he certainly is talented. No one would deny that.
But the less elegant parts of his game consistently get overlooked.
Only not always.
After the controversial play against the Lakers Sunday when Paul, according to many observers, including LA coach Frank Vogel, undercut LeBron James.
As you’ll see from that list, which was last updated in 2019, there are several undercuts and shots to the groin.
So while Vogel simply accused him of a dirty play, the truth is that Paul has long been a dirty player.
Only somehow it never sticks to him.
