Duke, Kentucky To Tangle In November In The Champions Classic

In the State Farm Champion’s Classic, of course

GREENSBORO, NORTH CAROLINA - MARCH 10: Carlik Jones #1 of the Louisville Cardinals attempts a lay up against Mark Williams #15 of the Duke Blue Devils during the second half of their second round game in the ACC Men’s Basketball Tournament at Greensboro Coliseum on March 10, 2021 in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Both Duke and Kentucky had tough years during the Covid season, although Duke was rounding into form when the virus ended its season in the ACC Tournament. Kentucky’s situation was much worse, as the Wildcats finished at 9-16. Duke finished at 13-11, not tons better, but at least over .500.

As we’ve said though, everyone should get a pass on this past season. It was just bizarre in every way.

Well both teams have sorted out most of their problems, have major talent upgrades and are on a collision course to meet in the State Farm Champions Classic on November 9th.

Kansas and Michigan State get the other game, likely the undercard since anytime Duke and UK play it’s a headliner.

Duke will have a lot to throw at the Wildcats but John Calipari has rebuilt his roster and his staff, so we expect that’s a pretty clear message to everyone that he’s not having 9-16 again.
