Duke women had a memorably short year, finishing 3-1 before the players ended the season due to the pandemic.
We got a brief hint of what a Kara Lawson team would look like and it was pretty obvious that her players enjoyed the system.
That has really paid off in the transfer portal as Lawson has brought in five transfers, including, on Monday, 6-1 Imani Lewis from Wisconsin. She put up 15 ppg and just under nine boards a game.
She joins 5-11 guard Celeste Taylor from Texas, 6-0 guard Lexi Gordon from Texas Tech, 6-1 Nyah Green from Louisville and 6-4 Amaya Finklea-Guity from Syracuse.
With 5-11 incoming freshman Lee Volker and presumed returnees 5-10 guard Jiselle Havas, 5-10 Miela Goodchild, 6-3 Onome Akinbode-James, 6-5 Jade Williams, and 5-8 point guard Vanessa DeJesus, Lawson should have a lot to work with.
By the way, Volker went to Paul VI, so she’ll have friends on campus already on the men’s team in sophomore Jeremy Roach and incoming freshman Trevor Keels.
