Former Blue Devil Gary Trent, along with Rodney Hood, was traded to Toronto in late March and clearly, Trent is happy about it, saying this week that For the first time in my career in the last three years, you know, I feel like I am wanted in a sense. They want me to be a part of something. They want me to help. So, I can’t even put it into words to be honest with you.”
It’s showing on the court too.
The other night he hit a game-winner against the Washington Wizards and Saturday night against the Cleveland Cavaliers, he had a Zion Williamson sort of shooting night, hitting a stunning 17-19 from the floor.
The difference is that Williamson scores mostly around the basket but Trent is an outside-in player.
Trent hit 7-9 on threes and obviously all of his two point baskets. That works out to 89.5 percent from the floor, which is just incredible for anyone, but especially for a guard.
And while Trent clearly feels at home in Toronto, more good news: he’s really starting to show what he can do and this is a contract year. So he’ll likely be very happy in a few months time.
