Virginia’s trips to the Triangle may be particularly intense for a couple of seasons as two Cavaliers have transferred to Big Four schools: 6-8 Justin McKoy, who went to high school in Cary, will be in Chapel Hill to play for new UNC coach Hubert Davis, while Casey Morsell, a 6-3 guard from Maryland, will suit up for the Wolfpack next season.
The way this is going, Jabri Abdur-Rahim, who is also transferring will end up at Wake Forest and he could be pretty good.
Wake actually did pick up a transfer too: 6-6 Damari Monsanto follows fellow former East Tennessee State Buccaneer Davien Williamson to Winston-Salem.
Monsanto was the SoCon Rookie of the Year so he’s got some game.
Wake still has a lot of work to do, but the Demon Deacons should have a solid backcourt with Monsanto, Williamson and Carter Whitt. Keep in mind that Whitt entered mid-season from high school and acquitted himself reasonably well.
If Steve Forbes can find some front court help too, the Deacs could be much better next season.
