Duke target Trevor Keels originally planned to announce on April 4th, which would have been Sunday, but has decided instead to announce Friday during the GEICO Nationals semis.
His personal Final Four are Duke, Kentucky, Villanova and Virginia. As you may remember, he’s a high school teammate of Duke guard Jeremy Roach, both having played at Paul VI in Chantilly, Virginia.
He would give Duke a solid outside scoring presence, something the team could have used this year to buttress Matthew Hurt, and if Hurt opts to leave for the NBA, obviously Keels could claim a bigger role. Either way Duke could use the three point shooting.
The Crystal Ball, a brilliant but mostly meaningless foray into recruiting forecasting, has Duke at 87.5 percent with one holdout for Villanova.
However, as we learned from Harrison Barnes, nothing means anything until someone actually commits.
