Duke’s Patrick Tapé has entered the transfer portal which is no surprise, really.
After choosing to spend his last year at Duke, Tapé really didn't see the court much. At one point late in the season, a Kentucky blogger saw him come in the game and said he had no idea who he was.
This was partly due to injury and partly due to the emergence of Mark Williams. Between Williams and incoming freshman Paolo Banchero, post minutes would be extremely limited next season.
In his brief appearances this season, Tapé showed that he is a mature and capable player who can certainly help a team.
There’s no mention of where he might finish up but sooner or later, with transfers so rampant, someone is bound to decide you can go home again and head back to a previous school.
Assuming Tapé doesn’t decide to do that, which still seems unlikely, someone will get an experienced and useful big man. We hope he has a great final year, wherever he spends it.
