DBR Podcast #288 - After Georgia Tech

Is the NIT on the horizon?

COLLEGE BASKETBALL: MAR 02 Duke at Georgia Tech
ATLANTA, GA MARCH 02: Duke forward Wendell Moore Jr. (0) drives in for a lay-up as Georgia Tech guard Jordan Usher (4) defends during the NCAA basketball game between the Duke Blue Devils and the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets on March 2nd, 2021 at Hank McCamish Pavilion in Atlanta, GA.

Close, but no cigar... that seems to be the story of this season for the Blue Devils as Duke falls in another nail biter, this time to a confident and experienced Georgia Tech team.

There was plenty to like from this game — Mark Williams is turning into a beast and Wendell Moore is putting up stats in every category there is — but there is plenty to be worried about too, especially the play of our young guards.

Time is running out for the team to make its case for the NCAA tournament so the podcast crew takes a moment to talk about what will happen if Duke gets invited to the NIT tournament. We make the case — pro and con — for whether Duke should take a trip to the NIT for the first time in 40 years.

The last appearance was in 1981 - Coach K’s first season.
