Sunday’s games weren’t very competitive, but the exception was the UCLA-Alabama game.
Here’s something people of a certain generation will have a hard time wrapping their heads around: UCLA, Cinderella.
Clearly though they are and the Wizard of Westwood departed in 1975, nearly 50 years ago.
UCLA was a play-in team for God’s sake.
But they keep winning. We thought Alabama would finish them but no. Just look at the last :14 seconds of regulation: Cody Riley makes a layup to put the Bruins up 63-62, then fouls Alabama’s Herbert Jones - who misses both.
Alabama then fouls UCLA’s David Singleton who hits both of his. Alabama then called a timeout and got the ball to Alex Reese, who nailed a three at the buzzer - his only shot of the game.
Of course, UCLA owned the overtime, but the end of that game was really, really fun to watch.
