Normally we just do one YouTube Gold but there were two plays in the ACC Tournament that earn the nod today.
The first was Reese Beekman’s clutch three against Syracuse: with time running down, he got an open look at a three and nailed it.
And by the way, who got him the ball?
The oft-criticized Kihei Clark. As Tony Bennett said when he saw him in high school: that guy’s a winner.
We’re not keeping count but he made a brilliant pass against Purdue in the NCAA tournament two years ago and one against UNC last year that killed the Tar Heels at the buzzer. So without trying, that’s three game-winning (or saving) passes the guy has made. Virginia critics, take note: you should appreciate what you have. He’s a wonderful player and yes, he’s absolutely a winner.
So is Jose Alvarado. We’ve seen him do remarkable things before but his heady play against Miami sealed the win. It’s been a strange year, but we’re lucky to have seen these guys play.
