And the former Blue Devil could certainly win it

There may be better dunkers in the NBA Slam Dunk Contest. Certainly there will be guys who are more powerful. But we’re not sure anyone will have more up than Stanley Cassius and that could matter because the former Blue Devil is going to participate in this year’s contest.

Duke fans will remember that Stanley broke Zion Williamson’s vertical record at Duke, and that’s saying a lot because Williamson has some serious vertical.

He measured out at 44” at the NBA Combine and at times probably goes higher.

Of course, a big vertical isn’t the only thing that matters. Creativity counts too, which is why you see things like dunking over 7-6 Tacko Fall, or leaping over a car or working various acrobatic moves into your routine.

It won't help you beyond the notoriety beyond what the event generates but it does give you a sort of fame that’s very hard to replicate in any other way.
