Mark Mitchell, the 6-8, 205 lb. forward from Kansas, will announce Friday at 4:00 Eastern.
He’s down to UCLA, Missouri and Duke and has said some encouraging things about the Duke staff and his potential future teammates.
Duke of course will see a transition in the spring from long-time coach Mike Krzyzewski to his assistant Jon Scheyer and Scheyer has put together a sensational class with Derek Lively, Dariq Whitehead, Kyle Filipowski and Jaden Schutt. By several accounts it’s already the top class of 2022. Toss Mitchell in and it’s that much more impressive.
Working against Duke: MItchell’s brother lives out in Los Angeles and Missouri isn’t that far from his home state of Kansas. Working somewhat in Duke’s favor: Missouri is not having a great year and there may be some pressure on coach Cuonzo Martin, who hasn’t exactly torn it up at Missouri.
Can Scheyer pull off another recruiting win? We’ll know in a few short hours.
