Duke Recruiting: Simeon Wilcher Intel

This one’s a long way from being done

We’ve developed an appreciation for InsidetheLoudHouse.com because they often have some really good recruiting information.

This isn’t really one of those occasions but it still has some good info on Duke target Simeon Wilcher.

While it’s too early to know a lot about how his recruitment is going the Loud House lists these schools as being interested but you know there are more:

  • Duke
  • UNC
  • Arkansas
  • Texas Tech
  • Memphis
  • Ohio State
  • Maryland
  • Iowa
  • Kansas
  • Auburn
  • Illinois
  • Kentucky
  • Miami
  • UCLA

We sincerely do appreciate the site but there’s always a bit of a defeatist attitude about Syracuse’s chances at big recruits which leads to the Big Orange Question: has Jim Boeheim hung on too long?

He’s still capable and his teams have been better than average since joining the ACC...but not by much. The old SU that got the best recruits in the country is a distant memory.

Which leads us, again, to a great question: who would be the right guy to take over after Boeheim steps down?

And who would be able to restore Syracuse to the elite?

Allow us to throw out an intriguing suggestion: Nate Oats.

He’s done a great job at Alabama but he’s not of the South and no matter what he does, basketball will always be a distant second to football.

Not so at Syracuse and he knows the area from his time at Buffalo. He’d be a huge hit.
