Anthony Black, who received an offer from Duke over the summer, hoped to transfer to another school in Texas but that goal has been thwarted: the Texas UIL state executive committee (UIL stands for University Interscholastic League) has ruled that he cannot transfer from Coppell to powerhouse Duncanville because his transfer is for “athletic purposes.”
There are some unusual circumstances. His mother, Jennifer, is living with the Duncanville coach and has been for some time.
His mother accused his father of domestic violence against both her and Anthony but the allegations didn't sway the committee.
It’s an unfortunate situation for the younger Black no matter how you look at it. Obviously he’s got a significant talent for basketball and could potentially go a long ways. This sort of emotional turmoil would be hard on anyone. It’d be great if he came to Duke but whatever he decides, we hope he finds some peace and room to grow as a young man.
