Well this is certainly no surprise: Joey Baker and Wendell Moore have been picked as Duke’s co-captains for the 2021-22 season.
And it’s well-deserved. In Baker’s case, he has always been a team-first guy and, as we have said before, we’re not sure anyone has ever relished playing for Duke more than Baker has.
And as for Moore, he has worked for everything he’s earned at Duke and never more so than the past few months.
He has transformed his body and, according to everyone around the team, made himself not just better but more accountable.
Talent has never been a concern with Moore and he proved in high school that he’s a major winner, having helped Concord’s Cox Mills win back-to-back championships. As a freshman at Duke, his tap-back of a missed free throw and his winning shot against UNC at the buzzer showed again that he is a winner.
Both guys have dealt with adversity and grown at Duke and they will grow in their new roles too. We think they’ll do great.
