Well you can’t win ‘em all - Jon Scheyer, who has been on a recruiting tear to build his first class as Duke’s head coach, lost out on a promising recruit when JJ Starling decided to play for another (former) Duke assistant, Notre Dame’s Mike Brey.
We’d love to have seen him in Durham of course but we took note of his final list. All of them, except hometown Syracuse, are elite academic schools. So in the long run it would have been hard for him to have made a bad choice. Best of luck to him at Notre Dame. We’re sure he’ll do very well there.
