It’s January 6th and Duke has only played six games. Last year, by this date, Duke was 13-1 with games against Kansas, Michigan State, Virginia Tech and Miami among them and all wins.
Clearly experience helps, and so does playing consistently.
On the other hand, not playing for a bit might have helped Wendell Moore.
Prior to the Boston College game, Moore was just 1-32 from the field - for the season. He was visibly relieved when he clanged in his first shot, an unlikely three pointer from way out that banked in.
Even better than that though was the clutch shot Moore hit near the end: with just :02 left not on the clock, Moore caught an in-bounds pass and got a shot off over BC’s Jay Heath.
We might be forgetting one, but by our count this was the second huge shot of Moore’s career following the tip-in last year to secure the improbable win at UNC.
Hopefully Moore can build on his tremendous game against BC and continue to show the leadership we saw Wednesday.
