Duke welcomed Wake Forest to Cameron on Saturday in this most unusual season and with both teams actually getting some games in finally, we’re getting a sense of their potential.
For Duke, we’re getting a better idea of what the various players can do. DJ Steward and Jeremy Roach are both getting better quickly. Jordan Goldwire is playing with senior confidence. We’re getting better ideas about Matthew Hurt’s improvement, the impact Mark Williams can have inside, Wendell Moore’s game with and without his offense flowing and how much Jaemyn Brakefield brings to the court.
And for Wake Forest, well, we’re impressed. Steve Forbes has had obstacle after obstacle to overcome and he’s put together a team that works together, plays hard and is going to get better quickly.
Carter Whitt, who graduated high school in December and has basically had to sink or swim, is mostly swimming. He’s still making some mistakes but that’s to be expected. He’s going to improve, possibly very quickly, and is very likely to become one of the ACC’s better point guards.
Wake’s future is looking very bright.
