Kara Lawson Gets Her First Duke Recruit

This is really good all the way around

Kara Lawson has won over her first recruit, Emma Koabel, a 5-10 Canadian who grew up just across the border from Niagara and who plays at Niagara Prep, about an hour away and on the US side of the border.

Koabel, who has a 4.0 GPA, committed to Duke on Wednesday (our apologies for not posting it sooner), posting on Instagram that “I am extremely honoured and excited to be going to such an illustrious institution, for both basketball and academics. Playing at Duke University has been a dream of mine since I was young.”

That’s pretty great to hear.

She’s in the high school Class of 2022.
