ACC Releases First Two Weeks Of Football Schedule Info

Football suddenly seems like a fine idea

The ACC has released the first two weeks of football times and dates under the pandemic schedule.

So here’s Duke’s draw:

  • 9/12: @ Notre Dame/2:30/NBC
  • 9/19: vs. Boston College/noon/RSN

Obviously only a select few are going to be in the stadium for these games due to the virus but it’ll be interesting to see how technology affects things. For one, we expect a lot of people will start chatting or using Zoom during the games to communicate and feel a sense of fandom.

For another, as we’ve seen in the NBA playoffs, it’s possible in some ways to have a sense of the fans in the stands. Partly it’s the Wii-like digital fans and partly it’s the Art Chansky notio of adding “Razzle-Dazzle” although unlike the Dean Dome, everyone understands the NBA is pumping in crowd noise out of necessity.

Our suggestion to the ACC: mount some kind of fan feed on the screen whether it’s Twitter or an in-house product and let fans post during the game. That could build an audience of its own.

You might consider monitoring it and highlighting specific comments. That would further invest fans in the whole enterprise.
