The ‘80s and ‘90s were a golden age for the NBA on the court but also off it. There were some great commercials done with Magic Johnson, Larry Bird and Michael Jordan.
You may remember the Bird-Johnson commercials where Magic showed up at Larry’s house in a limo.
By the way, that’s where they became friends. Bird’s mother cooked for Magic and they bonded. Bird said he never liked Magic before that experience.
In this classic, which was a follow up from a year prior, Larry and Michael are having a game of horse which gets rather extreme.
Charles Barkley shows up, eager to get in on the game, but Bird and Jordan keep telling him no.
The game goes on and on and ultimately ends up with a trick shot in orbit before the two stars realize they are hungry and start arguing about how is going to buy the Big Macs.
It was a beautiful era of basketball and silliness. This was a great commercial.
