As you probably know, the New York Knicks are a mess and likely to remain so as long as James Dolan is in charge. He’s a disaster for the team and the NBA in general because having a strong franchise in New York, one of the media capitals of the world, would be huge for the league.
It may be no coincidence that he came from Cablevision, a company long reviled for poor customer service. What does he care as long as the checks keep coming in?
We felt bad that this mess of a franchise picked RJ Barrett in last year’s draft because as much as Barrett loves the Knicks - he’s a lifelong fan - no one deserves that kind of environment.
Well he may have gotten some good news: the Knicks, uncharacteristically, have made a smart hire: Tom Thibodeau is the new coach and that’s probably great news for Barrett.
This article takes a look at how Thibodeau may affect Barrett’s development and career. Certainly he has a good history with young talent, if more so with Chicago than Minnesota.
