Fresh Trouble For Will Wade, LSU

The NCAA dropped the hammer. Will LSU be next?

The NCAA’s case against LSU hardened on Wednesday as the association presented LSU with allegations that coach Will Wade either gave, or at least offered, “impermissible payments” to at least 11 recruits or someone close to them.

This is bad news for LSU obviously and more so for Wade. You’ll recall that he was previously in trouble when the story originally broke as part of the FBI case that looked at college basketball recruiting (LSU AD Joe Alleva, formerly at Duke, lost his job in the uproar).

LSU and Wade worked out a deal for him to stay but part of that deal allows the university to fire him for not just Level I and Level II violations but for those charges merely to be filed.

So at this point, you have to think he’s hanging by a thread. LSU could fire him by dinner and he can do nothing.
