Duke football had a 75-play scrimmage Saturday that was closed to the media and fans.

So what else is new? Welcome to 2020.

Obviously a scrimmage is not a game and you learn limited things, and even less when it’s closed. Still there are a couple of interesting nuggets:

First, Clemson transfer Chase Brice may have had the best day at QB with 151 yards on six-of-nine passing. Statistically at least he significantly outperformed the other quarterbacks.

And according to teammate Casey Holman, Deon Jackson is looking good: “Deon ran through people today. He ran hard and didn’t hesitate. He followed our guys that created the holes for him and ran with energy. He wanted it.”

Good thing. September 12th is rapidly drawing closer and you can be sure Notre Dame will be ready.
