You Tube Gold: Blocked Skyhooks & More

There is no question that Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is one of the greatest NBA players of all time. Some people even put him at the top, above Michael Jordan, Oscar Robertson, Bill Russell and the rest.

His majestic skyhook was said to be unblockable.

In this video though, you’ll see it get blocked twice - on one possession.

Who could do that?

Only Wilt Chamberlain.

That’s just one part of this video, but it’s striking. In other places, Chamberlain simply overpowers other players, including Jabbar, who in one play simply cowers. What choice did he have?

This is a really striking video for showing different aspects of Chamberlain’s game. There are some massive blocks here but in a couple of places you see how fast he was too and in others what a superb passer he was.

Even now, all these years later, he is a singular figure in basketball history.
