Congratulations and best of luck to him in Knoxville

Point guard Kennedy Chandler has chosen Tennessee over Duke, UNC, Kentucky and Memphis.

It’s a big loss for Duke obviously and a big gain for Tennessee where we’re sure he’ll do very well and we’re sure he’s happy with his decision. That’s his decision as we like to say, not ours, and we wouldn’t dream of criticizing him for it. No one has to pick Duke just because it’s our favorite team. It’s his life after all.

However, we do want to say this and to be clear it’s about Rick Barnes and not Chandler.

His coaching style is boring. It was boring at Providence, it was boring at Clemson, it was boring enough at Texas to cost him his job and it’s still boring at Tennessee.

He’s successful to be sure. Watching it has never been fun though. It’s like Herb Sendek on No-Doze. And three generations of orange-covered fans and arenas doesn’t liven it up either.
