Julius Erving sat down a few years ago and listed his favorite players of all time and a few bonus picks.

He started with Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, arguing that he made all of his teammates better, but picked his own former teammate Moses Malone as his backup center.

He took Elgin Baylor at forward but also put in a word for Connie Hawkins and his flair for entertaining basketball.

Then he mentioned Tim Duncan slightly ahead of Karl Malone and also Michael Jordan, Oscar Robertson and Magic Johnson.

Notably not mentioned: Larry Bird or any other Celtic.

It’s his list so who are we to argue?

Anyway, it’s a fun little conversation with the good doctor and we think you’ll enjoy it too.

Also not listed: Wilt Chamberlain, Jerry West, Bill Walton, Jerry West, Hakeem Olajuwon, Shaquille O’Neal, Kobe Bryant, Scottie Pippen and LeBron James.
