Jonathan Kuminga has made his choice and he’s off to the G-League instead of Duke, Kentucky or one of his other choices.

At this point, it was pretty much a foregone conclusion that he would opt for the G-League and if that’s what he wants to do, then it’s his life and everyone should just wish him well and move on.

Our only advice to anyone choosing the G-League is this: at best it’s a short career and you will spend a year having your game thoroughly picked apart. An injury could completely rewrite your future and your plans, not to mention your income.

So first, be careful with your money (if they haven’t yet, the NBA really should offer financial education for G-League players out of high school) and second, plan for two futures. Basketball will be your job but it’s an uncertain one and we don’t know how many of these kids understand what a cutthroat world they’re entering.

That said, as we said before, it’s not our live and not our choice. We sincerely hope all his dreams come true.
