It looks official: Kara Lawson is Duke’s new women’s basketball coach. Welcome to Duke, Coach!
As we reported yesterday, she comes to Duke having been to Final Fours at Tennessee, having won a gold medal at the Olympics, a WNBA title and with very high regard from Brad Stevens.
She seems like a great match for Duke. We’ll be curious to see what her new players think about her.
Having a new coach is always an exciting time but the honeymoon almost always ends. We would just ask Duke fans to give her time and room to build her program. She needs players. She has some admirable ones on her roster but they may be limited offensively and recruiting now is not easy right now with the pandemic plus it’s July. So no one should expect miracles this year.
