Dikembe Mutombo was one of the more intimidating players to pass through the NBA. He ended up as the second all-time shot blocker in NBA history. A full 7-2, Mutombo used to wave his finger after a blocked shot.
Now his son is moving up the recruiting rankings.
Ryan, Class of 2021 and already 6-11, is described here this way: “Legit size with long arms and a sturdy frame. Has terrific hands and touch around the basket. Good feel as a passer out of the high post and on the block. Shot the ball from the mid-range area with confidence, and mechanics are fine. Impressive feel for the game and a high IQ. Good area rebounder and rim protector. Lacks lift, and just gets end-to-end OK. True low post player. Late bloomer with major upside.”
He’s in Atlanta so you’d expect Georgia Tech to be in pursuit. So is Florida State and Clemson among others.
