NCAA Gives Players A Draft Break And Another Mock Draft To Consider

Some interesting possibilities for Duke’s Vernon Carey and Tre Jones

One more effect of the pandemic: the date for college players to pull out of the draft has been pushed back.

The original date was June 3rd but it’s been postponed indefinitely which is fair for everyone: there’s no way to analyze players right now and no way to get intelligent feedback.

Speaking of the draft, here’s another mock draft to consider, this one from NBCsports.com.

It only goes through the top 40 picks so we don't have an idea about where Cassius Stanley might go, but they have Vernon Carey pegged at #22 which would currently have him going to Memphis and and Tre Jones at #31, just outside the first round, going to Dallas.

If Carey goes to Memphis, he’d team up with Tyus Jones, Justise Winslow and Grayson Allen which would put Memphis close to New Orleans as a team loaded with former Blue Devils.

The Pelicans currently have Zion Williamson, Brandon Ingram, JJ Redick, Frank Jackson and Jahlil Okafor.

Might as well dye the Mississippi Duke blue from Beale Street to the French Quarter.
