Reports: Wake Forest Zeros In On ETSU’s Steve Forbes

Not a done deal but it seems to be Wake’s preference

Although there is nothing official yet, Jeff Goodman and others are reporting that Wake Forest has focused its search on ETSU’s Steve Forbes.

Forbes has been at East Tennessee State - an underrated basketball school by the way - since 2015-16 and has turned in a 130-43 record and has won at least 24 games each year.

One thing to keep an eye on: he has recruited JUCOs pretty heavily and we’re not sure Wake Forest is going to be thrilled about that.

That said, if he manages to compete and win consistently, they may be willing to look at things differently after 10 years of Jeff Bzdelik and Danny Manning.

Forbes of course shares a name with publisher and two-time presidential candidate Steve Forbes although the publisher has considerably more hair than the coach. That just goes to show you coaching can make you want to pull it all out.

We’ll have more on this as it develops.
