A Look At Carrier Dome Renovation Progress

Lipstick on a pig?

Notre Dame v Syracuse

Here’s a drone video showing the progress of the Carrier Dome renovation. If you’re aware of it, Syracuse’s big barn is getting a new roof and is currently roofless. Which leads to an inescapable conclusion: yes, it’s big but it’s butt ugly. Like Soviet apartment block ugly.

There is absolutely nothing attractive about the roofless building. It’s gray and dreary. The best thing anyone could do (on the cheap at least) is to paint the gray concrete inside those garish Syracuse colors. The next best thing?

Just tear the whole thing down and sucker Carrier into building another one.

Even so, they don’t have trouble selling tickets. Syracuse has a devoted following and they can put fannies in the seats. People will come as long as Syracuse has sports teams.

There’s not much question about that.

And people will talk about the new roof for awhile as a big deal, which it is.

It won’t change the fact that under that is a big, ugly almost brutalist design. It’s just an unattractive facility.
