Two ACC transfers to mention as Virginia and Louisville both nabbed one.
In Virginia’s case it was Trey Murphy, a 6-8 forward from Rice who, by the way, is a native of Durham. Tony Bennett is developing a knack for recruiting this state - Murphy is the sixth North Carolinian to head up to Virginia in the last four years. He’s just a sophomore.
Like everyone else, he can’t do a visit right now but was sold by the facilities and Smithers Bennett.
And for Louisville, it was San Fran grad Charles Minlend Jr., a 6-4 guard who put up 14.4 ppg and 4.7 rpg this past season. He also had just under two apg.
Obviously Minlend will be immediately eligible but it’s possible Murphy might as well. The NCAA is set to vote to change the transfer rules to allow a one-time immediate transfer which would give the Wahoos a solid boot next year. Murphy averaged 13.7 points and 5.5 rebounds this past season and academics shouldn’t be a big deal since he’s coming from Rice, like Virginia a solid academic school.
