UNC took two hits on the recruiting trail this weekend: 5-star Ziaire Williams chose Stanford over UNC and Southern Cal.
Stanford, incidentally, is coached by Jerrod Haase, who used to play for Williams and was also a Williams assistant at Kansas.
And then Charlotte’s Trey Wertz, a grad transfer who called UNC his dream school, chose Notre Dame instead and said it was a “no-brainer.”
He expects the Irish will use him much as they used Jerian Grant: “Their coaching staff believes me and Jerian Grant are good comparison,” Wertz told Blue & Gold . “I went back on Synergy and watched a lot of that team. It’s definitely fun to watch. That team was really good. I’ve definitely done my homework on Notre Dame.”
Sounds like it.
While UNC wanted one or the other - their skills somewhat overlap - the Heels should have plenty to work with next season.
