Vernon Carey officially declared for the NBA Draft on Friday and afterwards posted a pretty nice personal statement on Twitter.

He started off by acknowledging the pandemic and thanking everyone who is on the front lines which was a decent thing to do. Then he went on to talk about his family and how they encouraged him to pursue his dreams and made a nice transition to Duke.

The second part of this statement which is really nice is when he says this: “I will always appreciate everyone at Duke who invested their time and energy to make me better - Coach K and our coaches, our entire support staff, our managers, the Cameron Crazies and many others across campus. Duke is a special place and you already know I will be back soon to catch a game and support my brothers.”

It’s nice to see someone explicitly acknowledge that they didn't get there alone.

Then he signed it: Big Vern Out. For now.

That’s our guy!
